I provide comprehensive general orthopedic surgery and sports medicine care with a focus on shoulder repairs, ligament reconstruction, arthroscopy and total joint replacement. I am board certified by the American Osteopathic Association and fellowship trained in ACL and complex ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration, rotator cuff and labral repairs of the shoulder, and hip arthroscopy.
I have worked as an assistant physician for a number of national sports teams. Today, I care for many of our local high school athletes through the Dayton Sports Medicine Institute and as medical director for Wilson Sports Medicine. I am also orthopedic team physician for Dayton’s professional soccer club, the Dutch Lions.

Nicole Burgbacher (PA-C)
Nicole earned a Bachelor of Science at Marietta College in Sports Medicine. In 2004, she received her Physician Assistant certification from Kettering College of Medical Arts. Since graduation, Nicole has worked in orthopedics and has been with OASWO since 2007. In 2008 Nicole went on to receive her masters in Physician Assistant studies from University of Nebraska.
Nicole started working closely with Dr. Heckler as his Physician Assistant specializing in sports medicine. She believes it is important to spend extra time helping patients understand their conditions and thoroughly explaining their options.
Originally from Warren, Ohio, Nicole has relocated to Fort Loramie, Ohio where her husband is the high school’s head football coach. Nicole loves following high school sports, especially football. She enjoys boot camp classes, running, and entertaining her two young children.
